We used to make sausages and sell them locally here in Wiltshire.
Occasionally we’d have more sausage meat than sausage sales, so we thought we’d make a few scotch eggs. We found ourselves selling far more scotch eggs than sausages, as a result in 2018 Hettie Hen was hatched.
We source our eggs from Tom at Greenacres Farm in the beautiful Chew Valley, where the hens roam freely eating insects and nibbling away on green grass, not to mention dusting themselves off in the rich soil. Our outdoor reared pork meat comes from Cameron Naughton, he is a 3rd generation farmer rearing pigs at West End Farm, Bishops Canning near Devizes, Wiltshire.
We’re based in Warminster, Wiltshire in the heart of the ancient county of Wessex, so we could say that the beauty and peace of our surroundings is fed into our eggs (Well the wild garlic is from the local woods!)…but that would be pretentious, so we won’t. Instead, we’ll just let you know about the awards we’ve won.
